Most of the weddings I shoot are local to Vancouver Island. And while I love this beautiful island so much, it is always a pleasure to get asked to capture a wedding elsewhere for a change of scenery. This past July I traveled to the West Kootenays to capture Cassandra and Ryan’s stunning, celestial-themed wedding in Rossland. For those of you who haven’t visited the area, think mountains upon mountains, with stunning valleys and the most picturesque rivers flowing through. The towns in the area are charming, with many heritage buildings and boutique shops… it’s like a scene out of a movie.
Cassandra and Ryan put so much thought into every little detail of their wedding. The ceremony and reception took place at the Birchbank Picnic Grounds, and the whole place was transformed into a beautiful, starry night.
As the sun was about to dip below the horizon, we were able to sneak away to the river to capture some blue hour photos. We were lucky to have the bright moon shining down on us. When we returned, Cassandra and Ryan danced to “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
An amazing wedding. A beautiful evening. An astoundingly beautiful bride a handsome groom. A night to remember forever.
