Avalon Guest House, Duncan BC
The little details that went into Heidi and Dan’s wedding were nothing short of phenomenal. When I walked into the barn that morning I was blown away. Looking around, it was pretty clear how much thought and hard work had gone into it all.
The ceremony was beautiful – in true country fashion, guests sat out on hay bales, overlooking rolling fields with horses grazing in the distance. There were cowboy boots a-plenty, and with both Heidi and Dan coming from small towns, everybody knew everybody. No need for ice-breaking, it was warm all day long!
Up the road from the farm was a field with a lone, beautiful old tree. A few days before the wedding, Heidi told me how she had loved this tree since she was a little girl and would love to take some photos there. When I went to scope the location the day before, a local came up to me and began to tell me how the city had just bought the land and was going to turn the field into the new police station. I feel lucky to have captured such a special place before it was gone forever.
